Man gets life term for rape in Gazipur

A Gazipur court yesterday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment and also fined him Tk 20,000 for raping a class III student in 2013.

The convict is Mohammad Sohel Khan, 24, of Kaliganj in Gazipur.

According to the verdict, on the night of July 2, 2013 Sohel hid in the girl's room. When she fell asleep, he took the girl to a nearby field and raped her there.

The victim's grandfather heard her screams and came out to see Sohel raping her. Seeing the grandfather, Sohel fled.

Later, the victim's father filed a case against Sohel and he was arrested.
