Man gets life term for rape in Ctg

A Chittagong court yesterday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for raping a seven-year-old girl in Panchalaish area of the city in 2009.

The court also fined the convict, twenty three-year-old Md Saiful Islam alias Rakib, Tk 50,000.

According to the verdict, on June 16, 2009, Rakib took the victim to a hill near Mayor Goli in the city and raped her there.

A week later, the victim's father filed a rape case.

Meanwhile, a nine-year-old girl was raped in West Madarbari of the port city on Monday afternoon.

Police arrested a man from the area in connection with the incident on Monday night.

Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadarghat Police Station, said the girl was raped on the rooftop of a four-storey building.

A case was filed.
