Man gets life term for killing wife

A Gazipur court yesterday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for killing his wife in their Tongi residence on May 11, 2003.

Convict Rafiqul Islam, 35, was also fined Tk 20,000.

Shahida Akhter, 20, died of blood clot in the chest, said her autopsy report, and the public prosecutor proved that the clot had developed as Rafiqul punched her during a quarrel over insolvency.
