Local lawyers demand Nur Hossain's remand

Staging a protest on the court premises, a faction of Narayanganj District Lawyers' Association yesterday demanded fresh remand of Nur Hossain – the recently repatriated prime accused in the Narayanganj seven murder case – for proper investigation.

Sakhawat Hossain, former president of the association, strongly criticized the comment of current president Anisur Rahman Dipu that Nur Hossain could not be taken on remand. He also urged all to choose the right side and not to patronise any criminal.

Seven people, including Narayanganj city panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker, were abducted on April 27 last year and their bodies were found floating on the river Shitalakkhya. The Indian government handed over Nur Hossain last Thursday but he is yet to face any interrogation.
