Last session of teachers training held in Ctg

The second and last session of teachers' training under this year's "English in Schools-EIS" programme aiming to improve English language skills was held at a restaurant in South Khulshi area of Chittagong city yesterday.

Fifty teachers from 25 schools of Chittagong city participated in the programme. Effective techniques for learning and teaching English language and motivating students were demonstrated in the training.

In Chittagong, the first session under the EIS programme, a joint initiative of The Daily Star and Robi Axiata Ltd, was held on August 28.     

Under the EIS project, 25 selected schools in four regions -- Chittagong, Sylhet, Khulna and Rajshahi -- receive free copies of The Daily Star every Monday which contain English in Schools page, designed for the students to help them learn English language.

Shireen Hasan, founder executive director of X-cel and her team conducted the training where Shahada Aktar, school inspector, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, Chittagong, was also present.
