ICT sends war crimes suspect of Mymensingh to jail

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 sent a war crimes accused from Mymensingh to jail when police produced him before it yesterday, after he recovered from a car accident on the day of his arrest.

Hormuj Ali of Trishal upazila in the district was arrested on October 1, hours after the tribunal issued arrest warrants against him and seven others.

Hormuj was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after sustaining injuries in the road accident, said Prosecutor Sultan Mahmud Simon.

He was in the accident while he was being brought to Mymensingh Sadar from Trishal, where he was arrested.

Police arrested four out of the remaining seven accused. They are Jatiya Party lawmaker MA Hannan, the alleged general secretary of Mymensingh district Peace Committee, an anti-liberation organisation in 1971, Hannan's son Rafique Sajjad, Khandakar Golam Sabbir Ahmed and Mizanur Rahman Mintu.  

The three fugitives are Mohammad Abdus Sattar, Mohammad Fakruzzaman and Khandakar Golam Rabbani.
