Homeopathic medicine shop owners jailed, fined

A mobile court yesterday penalised the owners of two unauthorised homeopathic medicine shops in the capital's Jatrabari for producing drugs in unhygienic conditions and using harmful ingredients.

Padma Homeo Laboratory at Kazirgaon was sealed off and owner Md Bulbul Ahmed, 46, was jailed for two years and fined Tk 2 lakh, and if he defaults, he has to serve two more months in prison, said a press release of the Rapid Action Battalion-10 (Rab).

The Rab-backed court also fined Nirmal Barman, 62, owner of Harbo Laboratories at South Jatrabari, and realised the money.
