HC asks Bogra court to finish trial in 4 months

The High Court yesterday ordered a Bogra court to finish the trial proceedings of a case filed for recovering 45,000 bullets and 36kg of explosives in the district in 2003 within next four months.

During hearing a bail petition filed by an accused, the court also directed the home and law secretaries to conduct an inquiry to find out who are responsible for delay in proceeding with the trial of the case and why the trial proceedings were not concluded in last 12 years after the case was filed.

The HC asked the two secretaries to submit an inquiry report before it in 45 days.

It also refused to grant bail to Ashish Deb Borma, who was the owner of the truck from which police had recovered the bullets and explosives.

Ashish's lawyer Syed Mamun Mahbub told The Daily Star that the case was filed with Bogra police on June 28, 2003 after the incident on June 27, 2003.

Police submitted a charge sheet to a Bogra court on September 1, 2003 against seven people including Ashish, he said.
