Gonojagoron Mancha faction demands arrest

Demanding immediate arrest and punishment of the killers of blogger Ananta Bijoy Das, the Gonojagoron Mancha faction led by Imran H Sarker brought out a procession in the capital yesterday.

Imran said Ananta was killed after two other bloggers Avijit Roy and Oyasiqur Rahman had been murdered within two and a half months.

"The government wants to cover up the incidents," he said, adding that it had been fabricating new issues after every incident in a bid to divert the people's attention.

"None of the accused was given punishment till now rather they were freed on bail so that they can commit such crime again," he added. The mancha announced holding a rally in the capital today to press home the demand. In separate press releases, Moulik Odhikar Surokkha Committee, the Communist Party of Bangladesh, and Bangladesh Chhatra Union also condemned the murder.
