A mob ransacked a clinic in Gazipur as a woman died on Sunday night following a caesarian section right there two days ago.

Rima Akhter, 30, wife of Mujibur Rahman of Ujilabo village, was admitted to the clinic, Padma Digital Diagnostic and Hospital, at Maona Chowrasta in Sreepur on Thursday.

On Thursday night, she gave birth to a baby girl, her third child, said Osman Gani, Rima's father-in-law, adding that the baby was quite well.

He said Dr Mahmudur Rahman Shaheen, a surgeon of Kapasia Upazila Health Complex, conducted the operation.

Following excessive bleeding, the patient was shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where she died.

One of her blood vessels was cut during the surgery, an allegation of the family denied by the clinic Director Jahirul Islam.

Dr Shaheen could not be contacted as his cellphone was found switched off.
