Four killed in road accidents
Four people were killed and eight others injured in road accidents in the country yesterday.
Two persons were killed and eight others were injured when a bus of Romer Enterprise collided head-on with a stone-laden truck at Matherhat on Rangpur-Bogra highway yesterday.
The dead were the driver, Jahedul Islam, 30, and his helper Mizan Mia. The injured passengers of the bus were taken to Palashbari Health Complex.
Our Gazipur correspondent reports, Samina Akhter, 4, daughter of Nazrul Islam, died after a car of Renata Hatchery Private Ltd ran her over before Dhonua Fakir Market at Sreepur in Gazipur yesterday.
Meanwhile, Ranu Akter, 30, operator at Paradise Spinning Mills Ltd, daughter of Alal Uddin of Kishoreganj, died after a police pick-up van ran her over on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Rongila Bazar area at Sreepur in Gazipur.
Agitated locals blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway from 7:00am to 8:30am causing traffic congestion.
Locals claimed that the van belonged to Gazipur highway police but Maona highway police said the police van did not belong to any Gazipur police rather it was going to Mymensingh.
