Form ninth wage board for journos
Leaders of a faction of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) demanded formation of ninth wage board and announcement of the New Year bonus for journalists and employees of the newspaper industry of the country.
Welcoming the announcement of new pay scale and New Year bonus for government employees, BFUJ leaders called upon the government to announce dearness allowance immediately before the formation of the ninth wage board, said a BFUJ release yesterday. The proposals were taken recently at a meeting of the national executive council of BFUJ.
The leaders urged the owners of the media houses to ensure New Year bonus for journalists and employees on the first day of next Bangla year, said the release.
They also demanded a separate salary structure for journalists of electronic media.
Demanding immediate implementation of the 8th wage board reward in all newspapers, BFUJ requested the government to cancel all benefits to those of the newspapers where the wage board reward has not been implemented.
They also demanded immediate removal of those newspaper owners and editors from the government committees.
It also demanded trials of all the journalists killing cases, including the one of Sagar-Runi.
The meeting also decided to hold BFUJ election on November 28 and council at the National Press Club on November 13.
