Fertiliser factory fined in Jessore for selling fake product

A mobile court yesterday fined a fertiliser factory in Noapara Bazar area in Jessore Tk 1.2 lakh for selling fertiliser without an expiry date, reports our Benapole correspondent.

The court led by Sifat Mahnaj, upazila nirbahi officer of Abhoynagor, also ordered police to destroy fertiliser of the factory, Akter Agro Fertiliser Factory.

Meanwhile, the upazila administration in Saidpur of Nilphamari shut down a fertiliser factory on Thursday night for selling fake fertiliser under the brand of another company, according to our Nilphamari correspondent.   

The administration also seized a large amount of fertiliser from the factory.

Sources said the administration received complaints from authorities of Grameen Shakti Organic Fertiliser Factory that some people were selling products under their name.

Owners of the factory -- Abdul Mannan, Mizanur Rahmam Mizan and Badsha Mia -- fled when the administration reached there.

A case was filed.
