Death of Senior ASP Anisul Karim: 2 directors of Mind Aid Hospital sent to jail

Two directors of Mind Aid Psychiatry and De-Addiction Hospital were sent to jail today after completion of their remand in the case filed over the death of Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Anisul Karim on November 9.

The accused are, Dr Abdullah Al Mamun and Fatema Khatun Moyna.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mamunur Rashid passed the order after Md Faruk Mollah, inspector of Adabor Police Station and also the investigation officer of the case, produced them before his court.

Mamun was remanded for two days while Fatema was remanded for four days.

In the forwarding report, the IO said the two arrestees gave important information which was being verified. So, he appealed to the court to keep them in jail until the investigation is completed.

Defence moved a bail petition for Mamun on grounds that he was not involved with the incident. And no lawyer was present on behalf of accused Fatema.

Earlier six employees-- marketing manager Arif Mahmud Joy, pharmacist Tanvir Hasan, kitchen chef Masud Khan, ward boys Asim Chandra Pal, Tanif Mollah and Sajib Chowdhury -- confessed to their involvement in beating the victim.

Hospital director Dr Md Niaz Morshed was arrested on November 10 from the capital's National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment for paralysis.

The other directors -- Sakhawat Hossain, and Sazzad Amin -- are still on the run.

Police have so far arrested thirteen people in connection with the case.

The murder case was filed against 15 named persons, including the 10 arrestees, with Adabor Police Station.
