CNG-run auto-rickshaw strike withdrawn in port city
The indefinite strike called by a faction of CNG-run auto-rickshaw owners and drivers in Chittagong city was withdrawn yesterday following an assurance by police high officials to fulfill their demands.
The assurance came at a meeting at Chittagong Metropolitan Police headquarters attended by Additional Police Commissioner AKM Shahidur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner Traffic (north) Masudul Hasan and leaders of the faction.
The strike from September 16 was called to materialise their eight-point demands including stopping the plying of unregistered CNG-run auto-rickshaws in the city.
