BNP wants judicial probe into attack on Barguna Hindus

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday called upon the government to open a high-profile judicial investigation into the recent attack on Hindus at Taltoli upazila of Barguna to find the "real culprits".
The demand and condemnation came in a statement signed by Asadul Karim Shaheen, assistant office secretary of BNP.
On March 13, at least 14 minority families of Chandantala village in Taltoli were allegedly forced out of their houses, and a gang took those houses to occupy the land.
At least 90 members of these families are passing their days in fear, and the education of their children going to school and college has become uncertain, said locals.
The statement said some media houses accused local BNP and Jubo Dal leaders in the attack, "which is totally false".
"How is it possible for the BNP men to get involved in such an incident when they are on the run to avoid abduction and police harassment?" it said.
BNP believes that a section has been spreading this false information to undermine the party nationally and internationally, it added.
