Blood bank closed, another fined for flouting rules

A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday shut down a blood bank and fined another for storing last year's blood in refrigerators which were not equipped to store blood.

Life Save Blood Bank and Transmission Medicine Centre located in the capital's Fulbaria was shut down for operating without any expert or medical officer, reusing blood bags and not maintaining hygiene and cleanliness. Its owner Abul Bashar was fined Tk 1 lakh while his employee Linajhina Talukdar, who claimed to be a technician but failed to show her certificates, was fined Tk 2,000.

Moshayer Hossain, owner of Creative Blood Bank and Transmission Centre on Nazimuddin road, was fined Tk 30,000.
