BDR mutiny convict dies in hospital
A former havilder of now defunct BDR, who was convicted of being involved in the massacre of its officers and their families in 2009, died in the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in the capital on Monday.
The deceased, Masud Ahmed, 52, a son of Hasan Ali of Gouripur upazila in Mymensingh, had been serving seven years of imprisonment in Dhaka Central Jail.
The jail authority handed over the body to his family after autopsy, jail sources said.
He had been suffering from lung cancer for years, and was being treated in the National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital in the capital, from where he was referred to NICVD.
