ASP 'beaten to death': Two more staffers of Mind Aid Hospital ‘confess to their involvement’
Two more employees of Mind Aid Psychiatry and De-Addiction Hospital today confessed before a Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate to their involvement in the death of Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Anisul Karim on November 9.
The employees are: pharmacist Md Tanvir Hasan (18) and ward boy Tanif Mollah (20).
Metropolitan Magistrate Debbrata Biswas recorded their confessional statements after Md Faruk Mollah, inspector of Adabor Police Station and also the investigation officer of the case, produced them at his chamber.
In their statements, they told the magistrate that they along with other employees beat the victim, court sources said.
Further details of the confessional statements could not be known immediately.
After recording their statements, the magistrate sent them to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.
Earlier, four other arrestees -- marketing manager Mahmud Joy, kitchen chef Masud Khan, ward boys Asim Chandra Pal and Sajib Chowdhury -- confessed to their involvement in beating the victim, who later died.
Meantime, Dr Abdullah Al Mamun, one of the directors, was placed on a two-day remand today after he was produced before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shahidul Islam with a 10-day remand prayer.
Another Director Fatema Khatun Moyna, 41, is now on a four-day remand in the same case.
Hospital director Dr Md Niaz Morshed was arrested on November 10 from the capital's National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment for paralysis.
The other directors -- Sakhawat Hossain, and Sazzad Amin -- are still on the run.
Six other arrestees are now on a seven-day remand in the case.
The murder case was filed against 15 named persons, including the 10 arrestees, with Adabor Police Station.
