ASP 'beaten to death': Mind Aid Hospital director Mamun gets bail
A Dhaka court today granted bail to Dr Abdullah Al Mamun, a director of Mind Aid Psychiatry and De-Addiction Hospital, in connection with the case filed over the death of Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammad Anisul Karim on November 9.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mondol passed the order after Mamun's lawyer moved a petition seeking bail for his client.
In the order, the magistrate said Dr Mamun was not named accused in the FIR and along with that, the accused was not present on spot during the incident.
Earlier, six accused who gave confessional statements in the case did not mention Mamun's name, according to the court's order.
On November 20, Dr Mamun was sent to jail after completion of a two-day remand after Md Faruk Mollah, an inspector of Adabor Police Station, produced him before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mamunur Rashid.
The six accused who gave confessional statements are narketing manager Arif Mahmud Joy, pharmacist Tanvir Hasan, kitchen chef Masud Khan, ward boys Asim Chandra Pal, Tanif Mollah and Sajib Chowdhury.
Police have so far arrested thirteen people in connection with the case.
The murder case was filed against 15 named persons, including the 10 arrestees, with Adabor Police Station.
