'Abductor' arrested

Locals handed over a man to police after mob beating in Ashulia, outside the capital, on Tuesday night for allegedly abducting a 13-year-old boy for ransom.

Abul Hosen, a security guard of a private institution in Savar, was caught when he came to receive the ransom at Zirabo. He was admitted to Enam Medical College Hospital later. Victim Shohidul Islam Shishir, son of RMG worker Minhaz Ali, was abducted after he had gone outside the house to play in Toibpur on September 4. Later, abductors demanded Tk 20,000 as ransom, his mother said.

However, police did not take any complaint until yesterday when Abul was caught, she claimed.

Shoriful Islam Sarder, sub-inspector of Ashulia Police Station, said he did not know to whom the family talked to earlier at the police station. They were trying to rescue the boy, he added.
