6 diagnostic centres fined, two sealed
A mobile court of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday fined six diagnostic centres Tk 15 lakh and sealed two of them off in the capital for providing fake medical reports without testing samples and running operations without licences.
During a six-hour raid in Fakirapool and DIT Extension road area, the court observed that the six centres used to give fake medical reports, which were signed by doctors in advance, says a press release, adding that they also did not have authorised and trained pathologists.
Modern Diagnostic Centre, Al-Amin Diagnostic Centre, Desh Medical and Diagnostic Centre, and Best Diagnostic, and Medical Centre were fined Tk 2 lakh, Tk 3 lakh, Tk 3 lakh, and Tk 1 lakh respectively. Led by Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam, the court also seized 428 fake test reports.
In addition, Bengazi Diagnostic and Medical Centre and Sumaiya Diagnostic and Medical Centre were sealed off and fined Tk 4 lakh and Tk 2 lakh respectively because they did not have licences.
