2 get life term for killing

A Chittagong court yesterday sentenced two men to life-term imprisonment for killing an auto-rickshaw driver.

The convicts -- Md Jasim of Chittagong's Karnaphuli  area and Md Emdadul Haque of Pirojpur's Mathbaria area-- were also fined Tk 20,000 each in default of which they are to suffer an additional year in prison.

The convicts are now on the run, said public prosecutor Abul Hashem.

On December 30, 2006, with an aim to snatch the auto- rickshaw, the convicts abducted auto-rickshaw driver Md Rabiul from in front of Noapara police outpost at Raozan. Later, his body was recovered from Kamal Dhigir Par area of the upazila.
