2 dead after being hit by trains in Dhaka

Two persons were killed after trains hit them in Dhaka's Dakshinkhan and Khilkhet areas this morning.

One of them was identified as Shaheen Mia (42), while identity of the other deceased, a woman aged around 35, could not be known yet.

Assistant Sub-inspector Md Mohiuddin of Dhaka Railway Police Station said a Gazipur-bound train from Kamalapur hit the woman while she was crossing the rail track near Joynal Market in Dakshinkhan area around 10:00am. She died on the spot.

Around an hour later, Shaheen, a cook by profession, was killed after a train hit him near Joar Sahara area in Khilkhet, the ASI said.

Police handed Shaheen's body over to his family members without autopsy, following their application, while the woman's body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
