12 Barishal police officials test positive in drug tests

5 found to be involved in drugs trade; four sacked so far

Twelve police officials of Barishal Metropolitan Police (BMP) have tested positives in drug tests.

"The drug tests were conducted on 55 police personnel in different ranks and of them 12 assistant sub-inspectors tested positives in the tests," said Abu Saleh M Raihan, deputy commissioner of the BMP.

Besides, the BMP found involvement of five assistant sub-inspectors with drugs trading, our Barishal correspondent reports quoting the police official.

Of the 17 police personnel, four have already been sacked while one went to retirement willingly and the rest will be sacked soon, he added.

The BMP started the tests on policemen in September this year following an order from Bangladesh Police.
