Eleven more people were arrested in an overnight drive yesterday in connection with Sunday's clash between followers of a Jubo League leader and former Bangladesh Chhatra League leader in Chittagong Railway Building in the city.

Earlier, 40 people were arrested in separate drives in Chittagong.

On Sunday, followers of Jubo League leader Helal Akber Chowdhury Babor and former assistant general secretary of BCL Saiful Islam Limon clashed over establishing supremacy in the area, said police.

Police charged baton and fired blank shots to calm the situation, and filed a case accusing 53 named and around 250 unidentified persons.

This is not the first time the two groups clashed. In 2013, a child and a youth were killed in a gunfight between the two groups.
