1st Bangladesh Formula Student & Automotive Engineering Summit held at MIST

The 1st Bangladesh Formula Student & Automotive Engineering Summit (BFSAES 2026) was successfully held on June 25, 2026, at Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST). The summit was jointly organised by MIST Blitz, the Formula Student team of MIST, and the FSAE Community Bangladesh. The event brought together students, engineers, researchers, industry professionals, policymakers, and automobile enthusiasts from across the country in the largest national gathering dedicated to Formula Student and automotive engineering.

More than 1,500 participants and visitors attended the summit. The event aimed to strengthen collaboration among students, educational institutions, automotive industries, and policymakers while inspiring the next generation of engineers to pursue excellence in design, research, manufacturing and motorsport.

The summit commenced with an opening ceremony attended by the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, MIST, and the team captain of MIST Blitz. A major attraction of the summit was its series of technical competitions, each designed to assess different aspects of engineering knowledge, creativity and practical problem-solving. The competitions included the “CAD Clash”, “Poster Grand Prix”, “Formula Future Business Case Presentation”, “Ignition Point”, and “Concept Challenge”.

Alongside the competitions, the summit featured technical sessions and keynote discussions delivered by distinguished engineers, academics and industry experts. The discussions featured senior members of FSAE Bangladesh, who shared valuable insights into the country's growing Formula Student ecosystem.

Beyond the academic and competitive activities, BFSAES 2026 offered visitors an immersive automotive experience throughout the day. Industry exhibitions and sponsor stalls allowed participants to engage directly with leading companies, manufacturers, and technology providers, providing valuable networking opportunities and exposure to career prospects within the automotive sector. Visitors also enjoyed simulator racing, go-karting activities and an impressive car show featuring Formula Student race cars built by university teams alongside high-performance vehicles from renowned automotive brands and private collectors. Formula Student teams from MIST and Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) displayed their own cars.

Prior to the main event, the organising committee also hosted “TrackTalk 2026” on June 21. The webinar served as a valuable knowledge-sharing initiative and generated considerable enthusiasm ahead of the summit.

The summit was organised in collaboration with the FSAE Community Bangladesh and supported by the Automobile Association of Bangladesh (AAB), FIA, and IR. The Daily Star and Infogram served as media partners, Coca-Cola and Nestlé as beverage partners, EventDeck as ticketing partner, Keeron as learning partner, GoKart as recreation partner, Skino as wellness partner, and BD Grid Pixel and GrowVerz as promotional partners.

The summit concluded with a grand closing ceremony attended by representatives from the armed forces, academia, government, and industry. Lt Gen Mir Mushfiqur Rahman, BSP, SUP, ndc, psc, Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division, attended the ceremony as the chief guest, while Maj Gen Md Hakimuzzaman, SGP, ndc, afwc, psc, Commandant of MIST, served as the chief patron.
