0.5% SIM cards have biometric glitches: Minister

State minister for Post and Telecommunications Tarana Halim today said less than half a percent SIM cards on the database have biometric problem.

Due to those faults in the registration process, some problems are still arising, the minister said adding the authorities concerned are working to fix the glitches.

Tarana came up with the observation at a press briefing at her secretariat office this afternoon.

In total, 11 crore 40 lakh SIM cards have been verified through biometric registration process and less than 0.5 percent of those has loopholes, the minister said.

Tarana claimed that the trend of committing crimes using SIM cards have declined sharply.
