A Japanese delegation led by Agriculture Minister Suzuki Norikazu visited Unimart in Dhaka to explore opportunities to expand trade between Bangladesh and Japan.
The delegation included Saida Shinichi and representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Japan External Trade Organization, according to a press release.
During the visit, Suzuki Norikazu reviewed Unimart’s operations and discussed the potential for increasing the presence of Japanese products in the Bangladesh market.
The discussions also covered trade facilitation issues, including import taxation and the need for continued policy dialogue between the two countries.
The delegation was received by Sharfuddin Akhter Rashid, director of United Group, along with Gazi Mahfuzur Rahman, chief executive officer of Unimart, and Shahin Mahmud, chief operating officer of Unimart.
Officials said the visit could support greater cooperation in food imports, retail partnerships and cross-border trade between Bangladesh and Japan.
