Janata Bank launches Visa dual currency debit card
Janata Bank PLC has introduced a Visa dual currency debit card to expand its digital banking services.
The card was inaugurated by Nazma Mobarek, secretary of the Financial Institutions Division, who joined the event virtually as chief guest, says a press release.
The programme was presided over by Md. Fazlur Rahman, chairman of Janata Bank.
Debdulal Roy, executive director of Bangladesh Bank, Farida Yasmin, joint secretary of the Financial Institutions Division and chief innovation officer, and managing director Md. Mazibur Rahman attended as special guests.
Deputy managing directors Kazi Abdur Rahman and Md. Fayez Alam, general manager of the ICT division Mohammad Anis and other officials also attended.
The bank said the card will allow customers to make online transactions both within Bangladesh and abroad with passport endorsement.
Users will also be able to book flights and hotels, recharge mobile phones and withdraw cash from Visa network ATMs.
Nazma Mobarek said the launch of the card marks a significant step in modernising banking services.
The bank said the card is part of its efforts to provide technology-based financial services.
