BRAC Bank wins Remittance Award from Centre for Non-Resident Bangladeshi
BRAC Bank has been honoured with the Top Ten Remittance Award at the World Conference Series 2026, recognising its strong contribution to facilitating inward remittances and supporting Bangladesh’s economy.
The award reflects the bank’s continued efforts to make remittance services faster, safer, and more accessible for expatriate Bangladeshis worldwide, says a press release.
A leading player in inward remittances, BRAC Bank set a new milestone by channelling USD 2.2 billion in wage remittances in 2025. This achievement highlights the bank’s growing role in strengthening the country’s foreign currency inflows and economic stability.
The award was presented at the ‘World Conference Series 2026 – Branding Bangladesh, Beyond Bangladesh’, organised by the Centre for Non-Resident Bangladeshi.
Zahir Uddin Swapon, MP, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, handed over the award to Shahrear Zamil, Head of Remittance and Probashi Banking at BRAC Bank, at a ceremony held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka on April 12, 2026.
Shama Obaed Islam, MP, State Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Md. Nurul Hoque, MP, State Minister, Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment; and M S Shekil Chowdhury, Chairperson, Centre for Non-Resident Bangladeshi, were also present.
BRAC Bank continues to make remittance services more convenient through over 90 global exchange partners, supported by secure API connectivity for real-time transactions. Customers benefit from digital onboarding through eKYC, easy access via the Astha App, and a range of Probashi Banking solutions. Beneficiaries across Bangladesh can receive funds seamlessly through the bank’s extensive network of 310 branches and sub-branches, as well as 1,119 Agent Banking outlets.
This recognition reinforces BRAC Bank’s commitment to connecting Bangladesh with its Bangladeshi diaspora worldwide and strengthening the flow of remittances through formal banking channels.
