AKIJ Resource marks World Day for Safety and Health at Work

AKIJ Resource observed World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2026 with programmes across its subsidiary companies.

The observance followed the global theme “Ensuring a Healthy Psychosocial Working Environment”, according to a press release.

Rallies, awareness seminars and quiz competitions were organised at factories of AKIJ Essentials, AKIJ Cement, AKIJ Ispat, AKIJ Asphalt Plant, AKIJ Ready Mix Concrete, AKIJ Light Engineering, AKIJ Polyfibres, AKIJ Feed and AKIJ Building Solutions.

A Hepatitis B screening and vaccination programme for employees was also conducted by Sheikh Fariq Uddin Welfare Trust in collaboration with Liver Care Vaccination.

Major Zahidul Hassan (Retd.), head of corporate services at AKIJ Resource, said, “Ensuring the mental well-being and safety of employees is one of the foremost policies of AKIJ Resource. We believe that a work environment built on mutual respect, cooperation and psychological balance is what ensures sustainable productivity in the long run.”

Rahajul Amin, ESG-sustainability lead at AKIJ Resource, said, “Psychosocial health is a measurable indicator within our ESG framework. We always emphasize managing workplace stress and fostering a culture of mutual respect.”

World Day for Safety and Health at Work is observed globally on April 28 under the initiative of the International Labour Organisation.

This year’s theme highlights the impact of stress, burnout and working conditions on employee well-being.

AKIJ Resource said it continues to mark the day annually as part of its commitment to occupational health and safety.
