Prime Bank launches Bangla QR-based cattle purchasing system
Prime Bank PLC has introduced what it says is Bangladesh’s first Bangla QR-based cattle purchasing system, allowing customers to buy sacrificial animals digitally without carrying cash, ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
According to a press release, customers can visit selected cattle farms — including Eshan Cattle Farm of 100 Feet Gorur Haat, Mymensingh Agro Farm of Mymensingh, and Samarai Cattle Farm of Plot-1673, Rampura, Staff Quarter Road, Nondipara — choose their preferred cattle, and make payments instantly by scanning Bangla QR codes through the bank’s MyPrime app.
The service aims to make cattle purchases faster, safer, and more convenient during the busy Eid season, when large cash transactions are common at livestock markets.
The initiative is part of Prime Bank’s broader push to expand digital financial services and encourage cashless transactions in Bangladesh. By bringing Bangla QR payments into the traditional cattle trading process, the bank hopes to reduce security risks associated with carrying cash while improving the buying experience for customers.
The move reflects the growing adoption of digital banking solutions, particularly during major festivals when transaction volumes increase significantly.
