NRBC Bank holds student banking conference in Sirajganj
NRBC Bank PLC, as the lead bank, yesterday organised the “Student Banking Conference 2026” at the Officers’ Club in Sirajganj, aimed at enhancing financial awareness among students, encouraging savings habits, and strengthening financial inclusion.
The conference was held under the theme, “Safe Transactions Through Financial Literacy”, with the participation of 35 commercial banks operating in the district. Mohammad Abdul Qaium Khan, deputy managing director and chief operating officer of the bank, chaired the programme, according to a press release.
Ganapati Roy, additional deputy commissioner of Sirajganj, attended the conference as the chief guest and said, “Today’s students are the future leaders of Bangladesh. To prepare them for future leadership, it is essential that they develop an understanding of economics and banking during their student years.”
“The government’s financial literacy initiatives are strengthening the country’s institutional economic framework,” he added. Speaking at the event, Kazi Mutmainna Tahmida, additional director of the Financial Inclusion Department of Bangladesh Bank, highlighted the central bank’s efforts to make banking services accessible to students through School Banking.
She noted that Bangladesh Bank has introduced the necessary policy support to ensure that students can avail themselves of banking services free of charge.
Currently, 59 out of 61 banks in the country offer Student Banking services.
As of the January-March quarter, the total number of student bank accounts had reached approximately 62.73 lakh, with total deposits amounting to Tk 29.10 billion.
Md Touhidul Alam Khan, managing director and CEO of NRBC Bank PLC, said, “Banking services are now available at our fingertips. Students can conveniently access banking services from home through digital platforms and mobile applications.”

Among others, Asim Kumar Das, head of Rajshahi Zone at NRBC Bank PLC, and Uday Kumar Dutta, assistant general manager of Sonali Bank PLC, along with other senior officials from the participating organisations, were also present.
