MTB launches digital trade portal ‘MTB Trade X’

Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB) yesterday launched “MTB Trade X”, a digital web portal, aimed at streamlining the submission and acknowledgement of trade transaction requests.

The initiative marks a significant step in the bank’s journey towards end-to-end digital transformation in trade services, according to a press release.

Syed Mahbubur Rahman, managing director and CEO of the bank, inaugurated the portal as chief guest. He said the solution would ensure a superior customer experience, faster processing, and seamless tracking of transactions.

He also noted that although Bangladesh has yet to adopt regulations for Electronic Transferable Records (ETRs), MTB Trade X positions the bank as “plug-and-play ready” for a fully digital trade ecosystem --from origination to final settlement, including customs clearance.

MTB’s Digital Banking Division in collaboration with its business and trade operations teams developed the platform in-house.

With the launch, the bank has moved from traditional paper-based processes to a fully digital system, enabling customers to initiate and track trade transactions in real time, anytime and anywhere, without physical documentation or branch visits.

Chowdhury Akhtar Asif, assistant managing director and chief business officer of the bank; and Md Shamsul Islam, deputy managing director and head of treasury; along with heads of digital banking and trade operations divisions and other senior officials, were also present at the programme.
