The White Paper Preparation Committee 2024 in collaboration with Citizen's Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh will organise a daylong symposium titled "White Paper and Beyond: Economic Management, Reforms and National Budget" in Dhaka on January 18.

The event aims at examining pressing economic issues and chart a path forward for the national budget, according to a press release.
The symposium builds upon the "White Paper on the Current Economic Situation of Bangladesh: Dissecting a Development Narrative", published in December 2024.

According to the press release, stakeholders have expressed keen interest in translating the white paper's recommendations into actionable strategies to address the country's economic challenges.

Discussions at the event will revolve around three key themes: economic management and challenges, economic reforms and institutions, and medium-term perspectives and plans.

Eminent members of the White Paper Committee, senior government officials, and advisers to the interim government will share their insights alongside researchers, policy analysts, and leaders from the political, social, and private sectors.

The closing session will feature addresses by Professor Rehman Sobhan, chairman of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), and Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, secretary general of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

The symposium will be streamed live on the White Paper Committee's Facebook and LinkedIn pages, as well as the Citizen's Platform's Facebook and YouTube channels.
