Stocks start day with rising trend

The stock market gained in the first two hours of trading today.

The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), rose 41 points, or 0.59 per cent, to 6,971 till 12 pm.

At the DSE, 165 stocks advanced, 150 fell and 53 remained the same.

The index rose thanks to the increased participation of investors, according to market analysts.

Yesterday, the DSEX lost 65 points.

Square Textile topped the gainers' list that rose 10 per cent followed by Acme Pesticides, Brac Bank, Sena Kalyan Insurance and Mozaffar Hossain Spinning Mills.
