ERF condemns attack on Prothom Alo and The Daily Star offices

The Economic Reporters' Forum (ERF) has strongly condemned the attack on the offices of Prothom Alo and The Daily Star.

The forum issued the statement after a mob
attacked and set fire to Prothom Alo and The Daily Star late Thursday night.

ERF condemned the assault on New Age Editor Nurul Kabir, expressed deep concern, and demanded a transparent and fair investigation into the incident. 

It demanded that the perpetrators be brought to justice.

In a statement today, ERF President Doulot Akter Mala and General Secretary Abul Kashem said the mass media is the fourth pillar of the state and plays a vital role in protecting democratic values.

It said attacking the mass media is unacceptable and is contrary to freedom of expression and the rule of law.
