Endocrine Society holds awareness workshop on PMOS
Bangladesh Endocrine Society (BES), in collaboration with BD Physicians, organised a daylong awareness workshop, titled “PMOS: A Comprehensive Approach to a Complex Endocrine, Metabolic, and Reproductive Disorder”, at Holiday Inn in Dhaka recently.
Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) is a complex hormonal disorder that can have multifaceted impacts on women’s endocrine, metabolic and reproductive health.
The workshop, which focused on managing PMOS and raising awareness about the disorder, brought together endocrinologists, gynecologists, reproductive health specialists and physicians from different parts of the country.
Prof Muhammad Hafizur Rahman, senior consultant of the Endocrinology at Continental Hospital and immediate past president of BES, according to a press release.
Partnered by ACI Diabetes Care, the workshop featured five specialised scientific sessions, expert panel discussions and scientific presentations covering various important aspects of PMOS.
Dr Azimun Nessa and Dr Ahmed Ifrad Bin Raunak moderated the workshop.
The programme covered evidence-based discussions on PMOS, including its epidemiology and endocrine basics, diagnostic criteria and clinical judgment, metabolic risk assessment and stratification, and comprehensive management with a focus on fertility.
Prof Hafizur distributed certificates among the participants of the workshop.
Faria Afsana, president of the BES; Shahjada Selim, president-elect of BES; M Saifuddin, general secretary; Marufa Mustari, coordinator of the PMOS Taskforce at BES; and Mirza Sharifuzzaman, treasurer, along with other renowned specialists and leaders of the society, were also present.
