18 metric tonnes of hilsa meant for Durga Puja exported to India

At least 18 metric tonnes of hilsa were exported to India tonight through the Benapole border on the occasion of Durga Puja.

Md Ishtadul Haque, quality control officer of Benapole Fisheries Department, said the remaining hilsa consignment for Durga Puja was exported to India through the Benapole port tonight, reports our Benapole correspondent.

Last night, four metric tonnes hilsa were exported to India.

Bangladeshi hilsa exporters, Omi Enterprise, Lucky Enterprise and Riyadh Enterprise, exported the 18 metric tonnes hilsa to Indian importers JK International and Siddheshari Enterprise of Kolkata.

Benapole Customs Commissioner Md Azizur Rahman, Joint Commissioner Nusrat Jahan said field-level officials have been instructed to expedite the hilsa export to India.
