Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal today told parliament that the country's inflation rate will come down to a tolerable level after the end of the current Fiscal Year 2021-2022.

He said this in a report on implementation, progress and macroeconomic analysis on "Budget 2021-2022: Second Term (July-December)" placed in parliament today.

The minister said the government has put special emphasis on keeping the inflation rate at a tolerable level.

In the first term of the fiscal year, the general inflation rate increased to 6.05 percent, which was 5.36 percent in July last and 5.55 percent in December 2021, he mentioned.

Kamal said the overall inflation has risen due to the rise of food items and fuel prices in the global market.

Noting that the collection of income tax and value-added tax (VAT) in revenue earning is promising, the minister said revenue collection will further increase during the period at the end of the current fiscal.
