BRAC Bank PLC recently organised a remittance awareness conference in Bogura, reaffirming its commitment to raising public awareness about sending remittances through formal banking channels.

Held at the Mahasthangarh Agent Banking Outlet, the event brought together members of expatriate families and local residents for an interactive discussion on the importance of using formal channels for foreign remittance transfers.

The session highlighted the benefits of sending remittances through banking channels and the risks associated with informal systems such as hundi.

Bank officials emphasised that formal channels ensure safety, transparency and regulatory compliance while also contributing to foreign exchange reserves and overall economic stability.

Participants were introduced to the features and benefits of the bank’s “Probashi Paribar” accounts, designed for expatriates and their families.

These services provide convenient access to savings, transactions and other financial facilities, helping strengthen the financial resilience of remittance-receiving households.

During the programme, the bank representatives encouraged the productive use of remittance income, advising customers to prioritise long-term goals such as education, small business investment, savings and asset creation over immediate consumption.

The initiative also underscored the growing role of agent banking in expanding financial inclusion.

With a nationwide network of over 1,120 agent banking outlets, the bank continues to extend accessible and reliable banking services to underserved and remote communities while promoting digital adoption and financial literacy across the country.
