OUR CORRESPONDENT, Savar

The authorities have already taken adequate measures to ensure smooth operations of factories in Savar Tannery Industrial Estate during Eid-ul-Azha, said Abdul Halim, secretary for Ministry of Industries.

All four modules of the Center Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) in Savar Tannery Industrial Estate are running on trial and will provide required support during the Eid season, he added.

Besides, there is sufficient stock of salt for processing rawhide this year, he further added.

The industries ministry secretary made the remarks at a press briefing in Savar Tannery Industrial Estate’s auditorium.

During the briefing, he said construction works of Savar Tannery Industrial Estate would be completed by June 2020.

Ninety-seven percent construction work of the CETP and 73 percent of the Savar Tannery Industrial Estate have already been finished, he added.

On June 30 this year, a company -- Dhaka Tannery Industrial Estate Wastage Treatment Plant Company Limited -- was formed to manage CETP, the secretary said.

Top officials of industries ministry and Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC), and chief consultant of Savar tannery were also present at the programme.
