6 ‘Bangladeshis’ held in India for making fake ID cards
Six Bangladeshis were arrested in Agra by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) for allegedly making fake passports using false documents, a senior official said today.
“The UP ATS were informed that some Bangladeshis, living illegally in Uttar Pradesh, used to call other Bangladeshis and make fake documents [used for identity] such as Aadhaar cards and ration cards, for them. Based on these fake documents, those people used to even get their passports made,” Asim Arun, additional director general of police, UP ATS, said in a statement.
He said those arrested were identified as Habibur Rehman of Madaripur district, Zakir Hussain of Narayanganj, Mohammad Kabil of Dinajpur, Kamaluddin of Sylhet, Taizul Islam of Mymensingh and Liton Miya of Ghazipur. He added that the six were picked up from Agra railway station on Sunday.
“During interrogation, it was revealed that all of them were residents of Bangladesh who were living in India with fake documents. A case was filed against them and they have been arrested,” Arun said.
He said the information given by the arrestees showed that they had also visited Punjab and Rajasthan.
“During interrogation, they said they had tried to go to Pakistan by crossing the barbed-wire fence but were unsuccessful. Their Pakistan-based accomplices had told them to sneak into Pakistan with the help of an electric tester to find out whether electricity was flowing through the fence. Four testers were seized from their possessions,” the officer said.
Seven mobile phones, nine SIM cards, six Aadhaar cards, memory cards, and cash were also seized, Arun said.
Last year, the ATS had arrested three people, including a Bangladeshi national, for their alleged involvement in preparing fake passports, Aadhar cards and other documents for illegal immigrants.
