Lok Sabha speaker meets PM
Speaker of Indian Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan yesterday said Indian parliament members were in a festive mood while ratifying the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA), and the LBA bill was passed unanimously.
"All members of the Lok Sabha were very happy to support the bill and it was really historic and remarkable," she said.
Sumitra, who had chaired the session during the passage of LBA bill, said this when she met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Gono Bhaban.
PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting.
Welcoming the Indian Lok Sabha speaker, Hasina extended her gratitude to the people and the government of India for their big help during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.
About the LBA, the PM said the exchange of enclaves between Bangladesh and India in such a festive atmosphere was rare in the world's history.
