Police will soon press charges against stepfather Arman Hossain Suman of raping his daughter.

Najmul Islam, additional deputy commissioner of the cyber crime unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told The Daily Star that police had found evidence of Arman having raped the girl.

Besides, Arman, a sound engineer of a private TV channel, confessed to raping his daughter on Wednesday as he made his confessional statement before a magistrate.

Metropolitan Magistrate Ahsan Habib recorded his confessional statement under section 164 of the CrPc.  He was then sent to jail.

“We will submit the charge sheet soon after receiving the medical report of the victim from hospital and forensic report from the Criminal Investigation Department,” Najmul said.

Arman had been on a two-day remand after his arrest by the cyber crime team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Unit on July 12 in the capital's Malibagh. The victim filed a case with Ramna Police Station the day before bringing charges of rape and cyber crime against him.

In the case statement, the victim said the accused had raped her repeatedly since 2008 and had been threatening to post her images and videos online.
