Businessman abducted in Gulshan
Unknown criminals abducted a businessman from in front of a bank in the capital's Gulshan yesterday afternoon.
Aniruddha Kumar Roy, 53, managing director of RMM Group, was abducted when he came out of the bank around 4:20pm.
As soon as he came out, three criminals, who were in a microbus, forced Aniruddha into the vehicle and sped away, said Abu Bakar Siddique, officer-in-charge of Gulshan Police Station, who had seen footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby areas.
Aniruddha's nephew Kollol Hazra filed a GD with the police station in this connection. Police, however, could not find the businessman as of 12:30am today.
"Several teams are on it," said the OC.
The police official told this correspondent that Aniruddha, who runs export-oriented leather business, has two partners. "We are looking into whether there is any enmity with his business partners."
Meanwhile, Kollol said his uncle Aniruddha went to Gulshan for business from his office in Bangla Motor.
"Nobody has called us demanding ransom or anything else as of 12:30am. The family is extremely worried. We want his immediate return," Kollol said.
