Celebrated actor Jaya Ahsan has won multiple awards, both at home and abroad, over the years. Recently, she won the Films and Frames Digital Film Award (Bangla) for ‘Trendsetting Performance of the Year’ for her role as speech therapist Dr Romilla Chowdhury, in Konttho.

The music app Shadhin is set to launch Patalpur, a first of its kind audio crime thriller series, in August. An official teaser of the series was released on July 10 on Shadin’s social media platforms. The crime thriller podcast will feature one-hour episodes, weekly.

Ranjon Ghoshal, the founding member of one of the first Indian Bengali rock bands -- Moheener Ghoraguli, passed away today at the age of 65 due to cardiac arrest. Based in Bengaluru, Ghoshal was also known as a theatre director. His theatre group Forum Three have produced some well-known plays including A Matter of Life and Death, an English adaptation of Badal Sircar’s timeless Bengali classic Baki Itihash (The Other Side of History), Ek Sunehra Bageecha and more recently Schweyk, The Warrior, an anti-war musical comedy, which is a reminiscent of Bertolt Brecht’s much talked 1943 play Schweik in the Second World War.

A press conference, announcing Duronto Television’s 12th season, was held online today. The new season will be aired from July 12.
