Sujeyo Shyam returns home from hospital
Ekushey Padak winner and Shadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artiste Sujeyo Shyam was discharged from Kurmitola General Hospital in Dhaka on May 27, confirmed Timir Nandy, another Shadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artiste. Shyam was hospitalised with COVID-19 like symptoms, and is now out of danger.
Set up at Kalurghat transmission centre in Chittagong on March 26, 1971, Shadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, from where the independence of the country was announced, was the inspirational hub of the pro-liberation forces. The Pakistan army blew the transmission centre off on March 30, 1971. The station was then shifted to Agartala and later to Kolkata, India. Besides being a music director of many popular songs like Salam, Salam Hajar Salam, Shyam composed music for 10 songs at the time. He received numerous awards for his contribution to music, including three National Film Awards.
