Accused snatched in Habiganj; 3 cops hurt in attack

Three policemen were injured as miscreants attacked them while arresting an accused in a case filed over a clash in Baniachang upazila of Habiganj last night.

Officer-in-Charge of Baniachang Police Station Emran Hossain said a team of police conducted a raid at Dakshin Sangor village in Baniachang and arrested Bulbul Miah last night.

While returning to the police station, Sheikh Momin Miah, a member of Mokrompur union parishad, and Ramzan's brother Badrul along with their people attacked the police team, our Moulvibazar correspondent reports quoting the OC.

They beat up police personnel and snatched accused Ramzan, leaving Assistant Sub-Inspectors Mohammad Toha and Sohel and constableHatimur Rahman injured, he added.

Among the injured, Toha was rushed to Sadar Hospital from where he was shifted to Dhaka Razarbagh Police Line Hospital.

Four people have been detained so far in connection with the attack, the OC said.

Additional Superintendent of police (Baniachang-Ajmiriganj circle) Sheikh Md Selim Miah also confirmed the incident.
